IndiBuild Wins Prestigious Housing Colorado Eagle Award

IndiBuild, LLC is proud to announce that The Fruita Mews, its pioneering workforce housing development in Fruita, Colorado, has been awarded the 2025 Eagle Award by Housing Colorado. As one of the state’s most esteemed honors, the Eagle Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments in affordable housing and service innovation across Colorado. This project is a direct result of collaboration and a shared commitment to Fruita’s future. We’re deeply honored that Fruita Mews is being recognized statewide as a model for rural housing done right.

The Fruita Mews—developed in partnership with the Fruita Housing Authority—stands as a powerful example of what’s possible when vision, environmental responsibility, and collaboration intersect. Offering 50 townhome-style apartments for residents earning between 30% and 100% of the area median income (AMI), Fruita Mews is Fruita’s first-ever Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) development and a bold response to the city’s growing affordability crisis. The Fruita Mews is also Colorado’s first multifamily decarbonization demonstration project. Supported by a $1.39 million grant from the Colorado Energy Office, the development is all-electric, energy-efficient, and certified to the National Green Building Standard – Silver, Energy Star, and IECC 2018 standards. It exemplifies how sustainable housing can improve both environmental and public health outcomes in rural communities.

The Fruita Mews opened to residents in October 2024. The Fruita Mews features one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments built across 10 residential buildings and includes a community clubhouse with after-school programming, workshops, and resident services. Buildings were designed with a modern farmhouse aesthetic and the project was crafted to blend seamlessly into the surrounding neighborhood and to elevate public perception of affordable housing. The property includes lush landscape and opportunities for residents to interact and childern to play. The design ensures affordable housing, builds a harmonious community, promotes mental and physical health, and creates housing with dignity.
